Flushing Council on Culture and the Arts (FCCA), located at historic Flushing Town Hall, was founded in 1979 to be a revitalizing force for its community, and a creative force for developing and promoting the visual and performing arts throughout Queens. FCCA fulfills its mission by presenting an array of high quality multi-arts programs; educational opportunities for schools and community residents of all
ages; and services to local artists and arts organizations. FCCA is a designated member of New York City’s 33-member Cultural Institutions Group (CIG) and is a Smithsonian Institution affiliate member.
It offers arts workshops and/or residencies in visual arts, music, dance, theater, and puppetry into the classroom. Student groups can come to historic Flushing Town Hall to experience an interactive gallery workshop or a hands-on arts workshop in our on-site classroom. It specializes in offering arts workshops that highlight East Asian culture. FCCA also offers a student matinee performance series of award-winning artists in music, dance, puppetry, and theater. The purpose of the series is to introduce students to artistic excellence in a variety of cultural art forms that support New York State Learning Standards in Arts and other core subject areas.
Programs for Teachers:
FCCA also offers professional development training workshops for teachers with a particular focus on providing strategies and activities for integrating the arts into their classrooms.
