DreamYard uses the arts to inspire youth, public schools, and communities. DreamYard programs develop artistic voice, nurture young peoples’ desire to make change and cultivate the skills necessary to reach positive goals. By committing to sustained learning opportunities along an educational pathway, DreamYard supports young people as they work toward higher learning, meaningful careers and social action. DreamYard believes that young people in the Bronx need a continuous set of supports to help them toward positive outcomes as they navigate their educational pathway. DreamYard has every expectation that through offering sustained and meaningful supports our youth will develop the tools to
become creative and successful participants in our democracy.
Year-Long Residencies: DreamYard artists teach with classroom teachers for 90 minutes/week and plan for
45 minutes/week. Residencies are 30 weeks from October to June in theater, dance, visual art, film/video, music, spoken word poetry and creative writing.
After School Arts Companies: Students explore creative art making through portfolio-based instruction by a DreamYard Teaching artists after school for 90 minutes/week, twice a week over 30 weeks from October to June in theater, dance, visual art, film/video, music and creative writing.
Creative Arts Coaching: A school-based program designed to help classroom teachers build the skills
needed to confidently teach and integrate the arts to their students through one-on-one coaching from a
master teaching artist.
Bronx Arts Learning Community: DreamYard supports network of Bronx schools with professional
development, evaluation and art festivals.
