Dancing Crane have presented hundreds of concerts, workshops and residencies in Georgian dance, music and theater. With the establishment of its Georgian Cultural Center its program has evolved to provide
an environment to combine professional level performance in Georgian traditional arts with an all around education for children through the study and practice of these arts and to provide opportunities for the growing Georgian immigrant community to establish healthy roots within New York City and American society.
Dancing Crane programs integrate the NYS Learning Standards for the Arts and the Blueprint for Teaching and Learning in the Arts and are designed to enhance the school curriculum. The program includes a performance for the school by our children’s dance ensemble followed by a series of in-depth classes learning the details of arm, leg and body movement, dance music and rhythms and choreographic patterns for these dances as well as the cultural context in which they are danced. The program concludes with a student recital for the school and a traditional Georgian feast.
Assembly Programs: The Dancing Crane assembly programs include performances and lecture demonstrations
of Georgian dances and songs.
Dancing Crane, Inc. has operated in NY State since 1996. Our mission is to perform research in and
