Dancing Classrooms is a twice a week for 10 weeks in-school residency program. Over the course of 10
weeks, students will be provided an environment to foster essential life skills while also learning a variety of contemporary social dances in a classroom setting. Most importantly, our program can help increase student attendance rates at school; boost academic performance through improved attention spans; raise parental involvement at the school; provide physical activity; and teach good sportsmanship.
The mission of Dancing Classrooms is to cultivate essential life skills in students through the
practice of social dance. Through standards-based, in-school residencies, we use the vocabulary of ballroom dance to cultivate the positive feelings that are inherent in every child. The maturity necessary to dance together fosters respect, teamwork, discipline, confidence and a sense of joy and accomplishment. It is our ultimate vision to establish schools and communities where every child is connected, respected, and provided a safe environment in which to thrive. Dancing Classrooms was founded in 1994 by Pierre Dulaine, and was originally known as American Ballroom Theater Co. In the Spring of 2010 we officially changed our name to Dancing Classrooms.
