The Czech Center New York (CC NY) is a cultural institute of the Czech Republic dedicated to promote Czech art, fostering interaction between Czech, American and the wide international community in the New York City. The CC NY established in 1995 is part of international network of Czech Centers supporting artists, professionals and cultural exchange in 23 countries on 3 continents.
CCNY residing in the Bohemian National Hall ( BNH ) recently redesigned, award winning landmark building on the Upper East Side of Manhattan is hosting wide range of free events showcasing contemporary Czech art together with international collaborations in music, fine art, and design, featuring annual film festivals, and seasonal rooftop screenings. The BNH now serves as a common space for presenting Czech culture, trade and tourism in the United States, reminding us of the Czech immigrants who once resided in this part of Manhattan.
The CCNY program focuses on presentation of contemporary artists and projects which are committed to engage the present cultural discourse or addresses relevant cultural and social themes. While we provide a platform for interaction and dialog of the Czechs with the local and international artists we encourage production of new works and are proud to present concerts that are North American or world -premieres and site-specific installations in our gallery.
