Arts Education is the primary element for CAC. Programs include: Arts in Education, The High School Internship Program, Teen Arts Program (New Generation of Artists), After School Saturday and Community Outreach.
Arts in Education – serves schools and youth service organizations by providing them with Artists-in Residence to enhance and support academics (classroom learning). In addition, offering School Day visual arts workshops to classes visiting our location from all five boroughs. This program allows us to develop close partnerships with teachers, follow core curriculums, and develop arts instruction that reflects and reinforces classroom learning.
The High School Internship Program – a part of our Arts in Education initiative works with alternative high schools and home-schooled individuals. Classes include Web & Graphic Design, Digital Photography &
Video Production, Entrepreneurship, and Portfolio Development.
Established in 1969 by renowned artist, Betty Blayton Taylor, The Children’s Art Carnival
(CAC) in Harlem is an award winning, nationally recognized visual arts education organization
that provides life-long learning skills and opportunities to young people that enables them to
realize their potential to be positive, creative and productive adults through the use of visual and
communication arts. CAC carries out its mission by fostering creative and critical thinking as a
necessary ingredient of intellectual development.
