utilizing multiculturalism in the arts. The ACC serves to: Preserve, promote and present African art, history and culture through comprehensive and innovative educational programming for the enlightenment of all; Create a community identity that accommodates cultural African traditions; Restore and establish relations with Africans of the Diaspora and other peoples living in NYC with African countries; Ease the pain of adjusting to a new environment.
ACC’s programs provides an opportunity to gain an understanding about the vast cultures of Africa in New York through the arts. Multicultural performances are a vessel to break down barriers and increase a sense of cultural pride while improving a sense of self worth.
